10 Must-Watch ADHD Lectures, Podcasts And Videos

Having ADHD isn’t easy. Learning to effectively manage your ADHD is a lifelong process and it’s important to always be learning and experimenting with new strategies and mini habits to improve your ADHD.

One of the best ways to uncover new strategies and tools for mastering your ADHD brain is by watching educational videos and lectures from the world’s leading ADHD experts. There is so much we can learn from these experts to improve your life.

The three ADHD experts that I find the most helpful are Ned Hallowell, Russell Barkley and Andrew Huberman so I’ve included ADHD videos and lectures from each of them along with a few other educational videos that I’ve found helpful.

I have previously covered my favourite educational ADHD documentaries, which is also a valuable lifelong learning resource.

1. How to Function With ADHD: The Entrepreneurial Mind

Dr. Ned Hallowell is a psychiatrist with ADHD and a prolific author who has written a number of excellent books about ADHD. In this video, he explores the links between ADHD and entrepreneurship.

2. ADHD, Clarified: Essential Strategies for Thriving with ADHD

I’m a big fan of Ned Hallowell’s books Driven To Distraction and ADHD 2.0 and I like that he celebrates the strengths and benefits of ADHD.

This hour-long webinar with Ned Hallowell, M.D., and John Ratey, M.D. has 7 great strategies for optimizing your life with your ADHD brain through human connection, environmental design, exercise and meditation.

3. This Is How You Treat ADHD Based Off Science

If you want to get hit over the head with the harsh realities of ADHD, then Dr. Russell Barkley is your guy. Although he can be a bit of a killjoy, this is a classic lecture that provides a lot excellent advice for improving your ADHD.

If you want to just watch the best part of the video, I recommend the 14-minute shorter version of This is how you treat ADHD based off science.

4. 30 Essential Ideas You Should Know About ADHD

This is a shorter clip from the larger lecture on The Neuroanatomy of ADHD from Dr. Russell Barkley where he provides a broad overview of ADHD and how to treat it based on cold hard science.

5. ADHD & How Anyone Can Improve Their Focus

The world’s most famous biohacker Andrew Huberman takes on ADHD exploring behavioral training protocols, common myths and different treatment options available.

This video podcast is a good overview of the biology and psychology of ADHD as well as some of the prescription and over-the-counter compounds for increasing focus.

6. Adderall, Stimulants & Modafinil for ADHD: Short And Long-Term Effects

Many people describe taking stimulants for the first time as like putting on glasses and seeing clearly for the first time. While they work great right away, a number of side effects will crop up over time that lead many people to stop taking them.

In this educational video, Andrew Huberman takes a scientific-based look at the benefits and drawbacks of long-term stimulant usage.

7. Failing At Normal: An ADHD Success Story

Popular ADHD YouTuber Jessica McCabe of How To ADHD talks about her story and how she has built the #1 YouTube Channel for ADHD with her quirky educational style. Other TedX talks on ADHD I recommend are:

1. Living With ADHD In The Age Of Information And Social Media
2. ADHD As A Difference In Cognition, Not A Disorder
3. ADHD as an Entrepreneur’s Superpower

8. Adult ADHD And Childhood Trauma

Some ADHD experts like Dr. Gabor Mate argue that ADHD is a response to childhood trauma, which may be the case for some people but I think the science is more in support of it being a genetic condition you are born with.

One person who is highly critical of the trauma argument is Dr. Russell Barkley but clearly, it can play a role in some ADHD and this video explores the connection between adult ADHD and childhood trauma.

9. Diagnosed With ADHD As An Adult

If you think you have ADHD but aren’t sure… here’s a good overview of how to see if you have ADHD. It features the stories of people in Australia who were diagnosed with ADHD as adults and how it has effected their lives.

10. Managing ADHD And Navigating the ADHD Nervous System

I’m a big fan of the work of Dr. William Dodson and his research into what he calls the ADHD interest-based nervous system.

In this talk, he discusses common executive functioning problems with ADHD and their link with emotional dysregulation and nervous system imbalance.
